New Deftones record for 2016

The new record, yet to be named, has release aimed for early 2016 after originally being slated for November this year.  The follow-up to 2012s ‘Koi No Yokan’ was confirmed by drummer Abe Cunningham and keyboardist Frank Delgado.

Delgado told Morning Blaze (as reported by Upset): “It’s going to come out in the new year…We had some dates that were already kind of tentative.” He also confirmed they’d been allowed to take their time on the record, “for the first time ever.”
Cunningham added: “It’s being mixed now. It started being mixed a couple weeks back. They’re actually going tomorrow to go down and listen to mixes and do things and… We’re mixing and we still are in the process of album title, artwork, song titles. We haven’t even got there yet, but the music’s done.”

Until then here’s their 1997 classic ‘My Own Summer (Shove It)’

Skrillex Performs Secret Set At Burning Man

US IDM superstar Skrillex performed a secret DJ set at this year’s edition of techno-hippy gathering Burning Man in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.
The controversial figurehead of IDM broke from expectation to deliver a house-based set. Judging from the fan-shot videos currently circulating, it went down pretty well. But hopefully ol’ Skrilly can’t be blamed for the news that arrests at Burning Man were up by 600% this year!

Oval Space to launch second London venue, The Pickle Factory

As many London nightspots close their doors for the last time in what seems like a mass fun-cull across the city, a new venue has popped up in Hackney. The 250-capacity club is located in Bethnal Green opposite the well-established Oval Space, and is described as “an intimate new space for music lovers” with “minimal frills, stripped-back lighting and a top of the range, as-yet-unreleased sound system” provided by German company d&b audiotechnik.

No line-ups have been announced yet, but according to the venue, the midweek schedule will consist of live shows while the Oval Space team are overseeing Fridays with “plenty of unannounced guests, no more than three artists per night, and all-night long sets as standard.” A rotating programme of promoters will take care of Saturday nights.

Check out Signs, the debut track from SAAL.

Here’s one for the drum and bass lovers out there. ‘Signs’ is the debut track to come from SAAL, and it’s just about as mesmerising as you get. SAAL is impacted by her love of traditional Indian vocals and instruments; the two combined capture her sense of exploration and her natural curiosity for experimental music. SAAL uses her music and her contrasting influences to skilfully show that there is more than one side to her. It’s her striking originality, euphoric live performances and an all round gorgeousness that earns SAAL her title as a truly captivating artist.

AaRON: Blouson Noir // We Cut The Night

‘Because
the world does not belong to us. Because
we're nothing, leftovers. Because we are tumbleweeds on roads. Because we are every lost, dashing, shadow. Because
 we're poems on sidewalks. Because
you are the needle in my arm. We are equals. We are mirrors. We cut the night’.
French band AaRON first gained recognition back in 2007 when they released their debut 'Artificial Animals Riding On Never Land. Get it? Since then they've produced another chart topping album (Birds in the Storm) and the were awarded with a European Border Breaker Award followed by a sold out tour. Pretty impressive.

After a few quiet years, the Paris duo are back with a new direction and an intriguing one at that. I mean, the prelude for their upcoming album features John Malkovich. Need I say more? Watch the album trailer and listen to their first mesmerising single, 'Blouson Noir', below.
